Implants

Dental implants often serve as treatment options to replace missing teeth, or as anchors for dentures or bridges. Dental implants provide greater stability than dentures alone. Dental implants can provide the following benefits:

  • Provide strong, permanent support for a bridge or denture,
  • Correct discomfort of joint pain or bite problems resulting from missing teeth,
  • Correct chewing and speech difficulties which are caused by missing teeth or shifting dentures and
  • Replace a missing tooth which will blend naturally with the surrounding teeth.

Implants can be placed by a general dentist who is trained to do so, an oral surgeon, prosthodontist or a periodontist. The general dentist will work in conjunction with the doctor placing the implants to restore the case. Restoration includes making crowns, bridges or dentures.
